All my life, or so it seems, I have been overweight. As far back as I can remember, I was called “fatty-fatty two by four,” and it hurt. And I have never forgotten about it. While I struggled with my weight, life wasn’t fun for me. It was tiring. It was boring. It was depressing and negative.
My weight was taking a toll on me in the form of back pain, joint pain, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and low self-esteem. I was on medication for my blood pressure and my cholesterol, and not only was my self image suffering, but I also feared for my overall health and well-being.
I come from an overweight family, and I have struggled with my weight my whole life. In my family, we have all suffered from weight-related medical conditions. I had high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, depression, hypothyroidism and back and foot pain.
