A recent study showed that people who are less stressed are more successful at losing weight. Scientists have long known that stress often plays a role in weight gain. While mild stress can result in a temporary loss of appetite, chronic stress can trigger the release of hormones that increase the appetite. And stress can also disrupt sleep patterns, which can make weight loss even more difficult.

Weight-loss surgery may provide migraine relief

A new study reports that weight-loss surgery can help reduce the risk of debilitating migraines. Researchers examined a small group of obese patients with a history of migraines, who underwent either Lap-Band or gastric bypass surgery.
After six months, the patients had lost an average of 66 pounds. About half the patients reduced the frequency of their migraines by half or more.

Weight-loss surgery patients also often experience "phantom fat," where they still feel heavier than they are. Your body changes quicker than your mind does, and you may have difficulty adjusting to your new weight and body size, making it difficult to find clothes that actually fit.
