I'm new...
don't know much about the surgery. I have signed up for a seminar.
I'm just wondering. how dangerous is the surgery itself?
what is the mortality rate?

are you asleep during the surgery? or awake.

thank you very much.

the seminar is the best place to get your questions answered for sure. I know Dr. Malley has a very very low mortality rate. I have heard that very question asked at a couple of the seminars, I just don't remember the exact answer.

Yes you are asleep during the surgery. It isn't one of those where you can talk to the surgeon while he is doing it. Depending on where you have the surgery you may need to stay overnight.
