i have decided to have the lap band surgery. and i am just beginning the road to success.. i have an appointment for the seminar on may 6 at 6pm.. i talked to my sister that just had gastric bypass surgery, and she was saying there are many more problems with the lap band than with gastric bypass.. she was telling me the band could pinch the stomach, or could break, and it just goes against everything i have been reading on this site because i still feel the lap band is the safest way to go. please can someone set me straight on this so that my mind is at ease. also how long does the paperwork and waiting list usually take after the seminar? any input would be so helpful for me...

Have you been to one of the seminars yet? If not they can answer tons of these questions for you.

There are risks with every surgery. The stuff you are talking about is very very rare. I highly encourage you to ask the questions to Dr. Malley or Dr. Hitchock in your consult if you are that far along and let them give you the real statistics on it all.
