Weight Lost Stopped? 2 Years, 9 Months ago
I just had my surgery 5 weeks ago so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I haven't had my first fill yet and that is scheduled for next week. My question is I was losing weight rather quickly the first few weeks and have stopped recently. I am very hungry and not getting full very quickly. I'm having to mentally MAKE myself not eat that much so I dont put the weight back on. My question is, is it normal to completely stop losing weight this quickly and still be this hungry. I havent noticed a difference in my appetite now that my stomach has healed. I'm hoping that when I get the first fill that it will jump start my weight loss again and make me feel full. I'm not trying to be impatient just really going with this full throddle and getting a little discouraged. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

First things first, welcome to band land. Congrats on the surgery. That was a huge first step.

You have entered what many of us affectionately refer to as Bandster's Hell. I promise it gets a lot better from here.

In the first 6 weeks after surgery, your goal is not to lose weight. I know that sounds so wrong. I remember hearing that thinking people were crazy. The point of this 6 weeks is to let your body fully heal from the surgery.

If you lose weight during this time that is a fantastic side effect. Bravo to you, there are a lots of people who even gain a little during this time.

Once you get your first fill then you will really start on the band path. Don't be surprised if your first fill doesn't make you feel full. This is the tester one to make sure you don't swell. After that is when the ride really starts.

The big thing to remember is do not get discouraged. This is normal. You feeling hungry is a good sign that your body is healing right on schedule.
