Hi everyone 3 Years, 4 Months ago
Hi everyone! I thought I should take the time to introduce myself since I have been quietly reading everyone's post for the past few months.

My name is Dustin and I was banded today (October 2). What a great experience. The discomfort kind of sucks but it was all worth it. I just wanted to publicly thank Dr. Malley and the awesome nurses at New Hope - especially Pat who took great care of my before and after surgery. The entire staff are class acts and I cant wait to get this journey started.

Welcome Dustin. Welcome to what we affectionately call BANDLAND. It's a whole new world. But it's great.

If you are comfortable, what are your goals? Any short term or long term ones in mind yet? I found that I had some at the beiginning but that they changed during the journey.

Thanks Jonathon! At this point my goal is to lose as much weight as I can! I guess I have the number 100 in the back of my mind but I try not to think about too much. I know that I will make it there some day but if I dont that is okay too. I know that my health will improve no matter what! It already has! I feel more invigorated. As an assistant soccer coach and the head softball coach for the best girls squad in the MEtro area I finally feel like I practice what I preach to my girls! I would like to get to know more of the folks here that have had the procedure and help answer questions that future banders may have. I had so many and really didnt feel comfortable asking people on the forum. (Not sure why though!)

In addition to weight loss I just want to remain happy. I am a happy guy but sometimes being as heavy as I am brings me down and I have to fight to get back "up". Not anymore though! Down 20 + pounds in two and half weeks and feeling like I could climb Everest! (Hmmmm... possible goal for the future?)

WELCOME TO BANDLAND BABY!!!!!!!!

Focus on HEALING, and cementing that bad boy into place! You will start feeling hungry once the swelling goes down, but rest assured once you start with fills you will hit your sweet spot of restriction.

Congratulations Lori. Getting banded has been one of the greatest life changes I have made (I cant wait to get that first fill!) Are you asking how long it takes to set a date with Dr. Malley or to get approval? It sounds like you have the clearance you need by the insurance company. The great folks in the office will call you back with a date that is open for surgery. I know as a cash paying customer, I went in for my consultation and I scheduled my surgery a few months later. If you are just itching at getting in there to schedule, you could call them back and say that you wanted to follow up about getting on the surgical schedule. Dr. Malley and his staff want to help you so much get this journey started! Good luck!
